A Complexity Analysis of Smart Pixel Switching Nodes for Photonic Extended Generalized Shuffle Switching Networks
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper studies the architectural tradeoffs found in the use of smart pixels for nodes within photonic switching interconnection networks. The particular networks of interest within the analysis are strictly nonblocking extended generalized shuffle (EGS) networks. Several performance metrics are defined for the analysis and the effect of node size on these metrics is studied. Optimum node sizes are defined for each of the performance metrics and system-level limitations are also identified.

GMPLS-Based Photonic Burst Switching (PBS) Architecture for Optical Networks
Photonic burst switching (PBS) architecture with variable time slot provisioning supporting high-speed bursty data transmission within optical enterprise networks is presented as follows: First, the edge and switching node architecture for in-band and out-of-band signaling is defined. Second, we introduce: I) a generalized multiprotocol label switching (GMPLS) based PBS software architecture in...
متن کاملMulti-Stage Interconnection Network Layouts Suitable For Photonic Switching
In this paper, we present new layouts for the multi-stage interconnection networks such as shuffle, banyan and baseline networks, that are suitable for photonic switching. In these new layouts, we decrease the number of crossovers of the stage links and crossovers between inlet-outlet of stages, which are known as the main bottleneck for the increase in switch capacity when it is realized for i...
متن کاملOptimal Self-healing of Smart Distribution Grids Based on Spanning Trees to Improve System Reliability
In this paper, a self-healing approach for smart distribution network is presented based on Graph theory and cut sets. In the proposed Graph theory based approach, the upstream grid and all the existing microgrids are modeled as a common node after fault occurrence. Thereafter, the maneuvering lines which are in the cut sets are selected as the recovery path for alternatives networks by making ...
متن کاملDesign and Performance Analysis of Pre-Allocation Protocols for WDM Photonic Networks
Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) enables partitioning the enormous bandwidth of photonic networks into multiple smaller, more manageable, multiple access channels. These channels operate at a data rate which matches the electronic interface speed, viz. Gbps. Media access protocols for an optically interconnected star-coupled WDM network with no control channel are introduced and compared....
متن کامل1 Evaluation of the 3 - D Optical Interconnection Module of the Sliding Banvan
AbstructA free-space optical interconnection module for the sliding Banyan (SB) multistage interconnection network is experimentally evaluated. This three-dimensional (3-D) optical shuffle topology employs a mucro-lens array in a reflective architecture. Interconnections for multiple stages are interleaved across a single two-dimensional (2-D) multichip array of “smart pixels.” The experimental...
